What are the responsibilities and job description for the Patient Access Representative - Part Time position at IRMC?
In this role you will be:
- Completing the inpatient and outpatient scheduling, registration and insurance verification processes within patient access, and creating the first impression of the hospital’s services to patients, family members, and other external customers.
- Able to articulate information in a manner that patients, guarantors, and family members can understand while maintaining the highest level of customer service.
- Accurately gathering and entering all information into the hospital computer system to expedite efficient data collection, billing, and hospital reimbursement.
- Utilizing knowledge of revenue cycle processes and automated scheduling, registration, collections, and telecommunications applications.
- Able to use modern office equipment.
- Knowledgeable about insurance eligibility software and access readers.
- Multitasking and maintaining composure when dealing with stressful situations, utilizing appropriate resources.
- Utilizing excellent interpersonal communication skills to effectively and professionally represent the department.

QUALIFICATIONS
Required:
- EDUCATION:
- 1 year business or medical secretarial curriculum preferred with emphasis in customer services, knowledge of healthcare setting, or equivalent of education and job-related experience
- High School Diploma required
- Medical terminology course
- EXPERIENCE: Experience with Microsoft Office Suite and computers/software/hardware.
- LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION: Certified patient account technician (CPAT) preferred
