Physician Assistant - IRMC Pain Clinic

IRMC is seeking a Certified Physician Assistant to join our Pain Clinic! 

JOB SUMMARY:

The physician assistant shall work collaboratively with the supervising physician, midlevel, and office staff to provide the highest quality of care to our chronic pain population with specific attention to improvement in patient functioning and quality of life.

RESPONSIBILITY: 

The roles and responsibilities of the PAC include the following:

1. Obtaining a thorough history on patient
2. Performing thorough physical exam
3. Ordering and assessing appropriate diagnostic testing/imaging studies
4. Appropriate diagnosis of patient’s pain etiology
5. Creating a multimodal pain management treatment plan for each individualized patient
6. Responsible and appropriate opioid prescribing following CDC guidelines and recommendations
7. Strong foundation of pharmacology
8. Thorough understanding of interventional procedures offered, including but not limited to: epidural steroid injections, cervical and lumbar medial branch blocks, cervical and lumbar radiofrequency ablations, genicular nerve blocks, genicular radiofrequency ablations, intra-articular hip injections, sacroiliac joint injections, sacrococcygeal joint injection, piriformis muscle injections, sympathetic nerve blocks, stellate ganglion nerve blocks, ganglion impar block, ilioinguinal nerve block, femoral cutaneous nerve block, ischiogluteal bursa injection, spinal cord stimulation
9. Performance of minimally invasive clinical procedures including trigger point injections, greater trochanteric bursa injections, occipital nerve blocks
10. Detailed documentation capabilities within electronic medical record including reviewal of external records as necessary
11. Answering messages daily regarding patient concern calls, questions, or medication refill requests
12. Competency in surgical setting and ability to first assist with particular attention to wound closure
13. Advising patients on preventative care and optimal health practices

CLINICALLY ASSOCIATED DUTIES:

1. Establish effective working relationships with referring physician, administration, nursing personnel and office staff.
2. Participation in performance improvement activities of the practice.
3. Participation in professional organizational activities.
4. Provide services as directed by the supervising physicians based upon educational backgrounds, experience, and limitations of state statute.
5. Participate in 100 hours of continuing medical education activities every two years and maintain national certification.
