POSITION: Animal Shelter Technician (Part Time)
DEPARTMENT: SHERIFF
EMPLOYMENT STATUS: PART TIME, NON-BENEFITTED POSITION
JOB SUMMARY
Under the direction of the Iron County Sheriff's office, perform a variety of duties related to the day-to-day operations of the Iron County Animal Shelter, promote and post animals available for adoption on social media outlets and other department duties as assigned. Part Time positions can work up to 25 hours per week.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
High School Diploma or equivalent (GED) and one (1) year of experience working with animals. Verifiable volunteer experience may be considered in lieu of work experience. Some office and/or clerical experience is preferred.
SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS
Must have and maintain a valid Utah Driver's License with an acceptable driving record.
Must maintain compliance with Iron County Vehicle Policy, Section 30.
Knowledge of State Laws and County Ordinances related to Animal Control; basic law enforcement and legal/court practices.
Skill in word processing and computer programs; handling animals; communicating with the general public and other agencies.
Ability to work unsupervised; safely work with animals; write reports; testify in court on animal control cases; follow directions given both verbally and in writing; prioritize and organize responsibilities; maintain cooperative working relationships; communicate by radio as needed.
