Iron Oak Energy is looking for a dynamic Operations Manager who will have a positive impact on the team at our Tunnel City, WI location. The Operations Manager is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the Tunnel City plant through supervision of the Production Supervisors, Maintenance Supervisors, and Safety/QC Tech. This position directs activities to execute plans and achieve production goals while maintaining a safe work environment and meeting environmental compliance requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Set high standards for workplace safety. Understand and enforce MSHA regulations and Iron Oak Energy’s Corporate Safety & Health policies and procedures ensuring employees are properly trained and equipped to perform jobs in the safest manner. Enforce high standards for plant housekeeping.
- Coordinate with Maintenance and Production to ensure equipment availabilities and production requirements are met and in compliance with quality control procedures.
- Coordinate with plant personnel, Customer Service, Canadian Pacific, and Distribution on daily basis regarding shipments.
- Oversee compliance with Environmental, Shipping, Purchasing and Administration standards and policies.
- Work with the Engineering department on plant expansion and improvement projects.
- Coordinate with suppliers, consultants and contractors on Continuous Improvement projects as required.
- Ensure compliance with all governmental laws and regulations.
- Coordinate with Mine Planning and Geology to ensure proper implementation of the mine plan. Ensure proper reclamation practices are performed and adequate reserves are available.
- Monitor and maintain the Preventive Maintenance Program.
- Oversee employee training, development and performance. Participate in disciplinary processes as required.
- Manage and create long term capital project planning and justification.
- Identify and prepare capital expenditure plant improvement projects.
- Prepare Expenditure Requests for approved capital projects.
- Prepare, administer and review performance reviews of direct reports and their subordinates.
- Monitor and approve all spending as well as spare part inventories.
- Review daily plant production and prepare weekly reports.
- Troubleshoot operational issues as they arise.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or technical major strongly preferred.
- 5 years of related heavy industry experience required. Mining or mineral processing experience strongly preferred;
- 2 years of front-line supervisory experience required;
- Management experience in leading and developing teams to deliver results;
- Strong negotiation, interpersonal, and communication skills;
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills;
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
