Iron Oak Energy is looking for a dynamic Mine Planning Engineer who will have a positive impact on the Operations team at its Wedron, IL plant location. This position will work independently to develop mine and waste disposal plans and evaluate mining and waste disposal operations for the company’s Wedron Sillica plant. The Mine Planning Engineer contributes in the development of technical solutions in support of Mine Planning processes and other departments as needs arise.
Key Accountabilities:
- Work independently to develop mine plans which meet all safety, environmental, operating, and market quality objectives. This responsibility includes planning for Iron Oak Energy’s Wedron Silica plant.
- Monitor the implementation of mine plans and evaluate existing mining operations for the purpose of recommending improvements.
- Work directly with Stripping Contractor to achieve targeted volumes.
- Work directly with Drilling and Blasting Contractors to maintain adequate broken inventory to support daily operations.
- Develop plans for disposal of tailings and other mineral waste materials.
- Develop reclamation plans in conjunction with the mine plans.
- Facilitate annual geological drilling program.
- Develop annual budgets for stripping, drilling, and blasting.
- Manage projects within the mine area as needed.
- Leads in the development of technical solutions in support of Mine Planning processes and other Iron Oak Energy departments as needs arise.
- Perform drone surveying as required.
- Carry out the Mine Planning policy and procedures.
- Complete other tasks as required.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Five years’ experience in a Mining Engineer role required
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in an Engineering field required
- Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering preferred
- Must possess strong analytical, verbal and written communication skills
- Experience working with AutoCAD, Hexagon Mine Sight or Vulcan is a plus
