Overview:

The Cash Application Supervisor is responsible for managing the daily operations of the cash application team, ensuring accurate and timely processing of cash receipts, and overseeing the reconciliation of accounts. This role plays a critical role in maintaining the financial integrity of the organization by ensuring that all cash transactions are properly recorded and reconciled. Ensuring that payments are applied to the appropriate customer accounts while identifying discrepancies or issues with payments and resolving any outstanding balances, while providing excellent customer service in handling payment-related inquiries and issues.

Key Responsibilities:

• Supervision and Leadership:
  • Lead and supervise a team of cash application specialists.
  • Provide guidance, support, and training to team members to ensure high performance and productivity.
  • Set performance goals and objectives for the team and conduct regular performance evaluations.
• Cash Application Process:
  • Oversee the processing of cash receipts and application of payments to customer accounts. (ie) lockbox, ACH, CC processing / postings, customer rebates, etc.
  • Ensure accuracy and timeliness in posting cash transactions to the general ledger.
  • Monitor and review daily cash application activities to identify discrepancies or issues.
  • Knowledge of electronic payment processing systems and banking procedures.
• Reconciliation and Reporting:
  • Conduct regular reconciliation of cash receipts to bank statements and accounts receivable records.
  • Prepare and analyze reports on cash application activities, aging reports, and unapplied cash balances.
  • Investigate and resolve discrepancies or variances in cash application processes.
• Process Improvement:
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and efficiency in cash application procedures.
  • Implement best practices and standard operating procedures to optimize the cash application function.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams such as Finance, Accounts Receivable, and IT to streamline processes and resolve issues.
• Compliance and Controls:
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, accounting standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain internal controls over cash application processes to safeguard company assets and prevent fraud or errors.
  • Assist with internal and external audits related to cash application activities.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field Preferred.
• Proven experience (5 years) in cash application or accounts receivable role, with 4 years in a supervisory or leadership position.
• Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial concepts.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to multitask, prioritize, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Attention to detail and accuracy.
