Heavy Equipment Technician

Job Description: The Ironpeddlers, a reputable heavy equipment dealership located in Monroe, NC, is seeking a skilled Heavy Equipment Technician to join our team. As a shop-based technician, you will play a vital role in servicing and maintaining a wide range of heavy equipment machinery. This position has the opportunity to transition into a Field Technician role. We specialize in construction and forestry equipment, and our technicians are responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining these machines to ensure their optimal performance.

Responsibilities:

• Conduct diagnostic assessments to identify mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues in heavy equipment machinery.
• Perform repairs, adjustments, and routine maintenance tasks on various equipment, including but not limited to excavators, bulldozers, loaders, tractors, and other heavy machinery.
• Utilize technical manuals, schematics, and diagnostic tools to troubleshoot and repair equipment components, such as engines, transmissions, brakes, hydraulics, and electrical systems.
• Perform inspections and preventive maintenance on equipment to ensure safe and efficient operation.
• Keep accurate records of maintenance and repair work performed, including parts used, labor hours, and other relevant information.
• Communicate effectively with customers and provide exceptional customer service, addressing any concerns or questions regarding equipment repairs.
• Collaborate with the parts department to order necessary components and ensure the availability of required parts for repairs and maintenance tasks.
• Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines while working on equipment and in the shop area.
• Maintain a clean and organized work environment, including tools, equipment, and service bays.

Requirements:

• Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Heavy Equipment Technician, preferably in a shop-based setting.
• Proficient in diagnosing and repairing various heavy equipment systems, including electrical, hydraulic, and engines.
• Strong knowledge of equipment components and their functions.
• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, diagrams, and schematics.
• Proficient in using diagnostic tools and equipment to troubleshoot and resolve issues.
• Possess a comprehensive set of personal tools necessary for equipment repairs.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
• Strong attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work.
• Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Valid driver's license and clean driving record.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $25.00 - $35.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 – 45 per week
