POSITION SUMMARY
At Ironsmith Fire, a fire sprinkler Inspector is primarily responsible for performing NFPA 25 inspections of fire sprinkler systems. The types of systems being tested and inspected will include any type of fire protection sprinkler systems included in NFPA 13, 13R, and 13D. Also included in the testing and inspections of these systems are fire pumps, manual & automatic standpipe systems, fire hydrant certifications and backflow preventer certifications. This position requires a high level of professionalism due to being in front of property managers, owners, and tenants of the properties being inspected.

· Develop and maintain good rapport with property managers, tenants, and owners of the properties you are assigned to inspect.
· Provide support, guidance, and expertise to the other inspectors in training.
· Suggest improvements within the Ironsmith Fire system if you witness inefficiencies.
· Identify opportunities for cost savings or efficiency improvements without compromising quality or safety.
· Implement safety protocols to minimize the risk of accidents or injuries on job sites.
· Uphold our commitment to delivering unparalleled customer service by enforcing strict adherence to industry standards and best practices.
· Prioritize safety above all else, fostering a culture of safety consciousness and accountability among your team.
· Request from the daywork superintendent to schedule an inspector apprentice when it is necessary to fulfill the requirements of specific inspections.
· Perform all aspects of NFPA 25 fire sprinkler inspections.
· Certify fire hydrants and backflow preventers upon installation of new devices in the new construction and daywork departments, as required.
· Document and communicate required specific protocols in the Ironsmith Fire CRM software for individual properties so future inspections on that site can become more efficient.
· Complete and turn in inspection reports to the customer and Ironsmith Fire within 2 days of final completion of the inspection.
· Basic understanding of costs, budgets, and which financial metrics you personally affect.
· Maintain a meticulously clean and organized company vehicle.
· Maintain proper service and maintenance routine on the company vehicle in accordance with the Ironsmith Fire company policy.
· Maintain assigned tools and equipment and report any defects or problems immediately upon discovery.
· Provide pictures and detailed records/descriptions of all pertinent information during the fire sprinkler inspections in the Ironsmith Fire software. This includes items needing repair, alarm codes/contact information, device locations, etc.
· Work closely with the deficiency sales reps to ensure the customers are able to receive accurate proposals for the deficiency repairs required within 48 hours of inspection completion.
· Provide change order scope sheets to the Daywork Superintendent for noticeable changes from what was agreed to on the inspection proposal/contract.
· Provide basic technical support to customers regarding fire sprinkler systems.
· An inspector’s schedule will sometimes be required to adapt to the customer’s availability. Meaning, in rare occasions, after hours inspections may be required.
· The inspector’s appearance must be clean and professional at all times during the inspection.
· Perform other duties assigned by management.
COMPETENCIES
· Strong working knowledge of life safety and NFPA codes.
· Must have any and all required licensing to perform inspections for the area you work in.
· Backflow testing certification.
· Working knowledge of sprinkler controls, alarm panels, devices and critical components.
· Ability to adhere to, implement, and follow safety guidelines and procedures at all times.
· Strong written and verbal skills.
· Excellent communications and customer service skills.
· Ability to present information and respond to questions from managers, customers, and authorities having jurisdiction.
· Possess a valid driver’s license and driving record that meets company requirements.
· Extensive understanding of fire sprinkler systems and how they operate.
· Knowledge of the various tool needed to fulfil the job duties.
· Good problem-solving skills.
· Ability to speak Spanish a plus, but not required.
· Willingness to travel including overnight to job sites.
· High-level attention to details and documentation precision.
· Ability to work independently with little supervision, lead and develop inspector apprentices on occasion.
· Certification or training in relevant areas such as NFPA standards, OSHA regulations, and CPR/First Aid.
· Ironsmith Fire engages in a broad range of projects types. It is a must to have the ability to pivot and adapt to each job.
· Understanding of the importance and necessity for memorable, quality customer service.
· Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
· Minimum of 2 years overall inspection and testing experience.
· High school diploma or alternative.
· Backflow Preventer Certification.
· Any required State and Local certifications required for inspecting and testing of fire sprinkler systems.
· Must hold valid state driver's license with acceptable driving record to be approved to drive company vehicle.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
· Able to work in unusual and sometimes difficult positions.
· Be able to work in hot and cold environments, depending on the seasons.
· Walk multiple flights of stairs during inspections and job site visits.
· Be able to lift and carry up to 75lbs.
