Ironwood Cancer & Research Centers has beautiful state-of-the-art integrated Cancer and Breast Centers, with locations strategically located throughout the Valley. Each one provides a superior cancer care environment with a full spectrum of cancer related services for patients. Our multi-disciplinary team approach includes surgical oncology, medical oncology, radiation oncology, breast centers, diagnostic imaging services, social service support, nutritionist, integrative services, and genetic counseling.

Position Summary:
Provide social services to our patients and families at our West Valley offices (Glendale, Goodyear, Surprise) as they navigate their cancer diagnosis and treatment journey.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Facilitate support groups and educational in-services.
- Assist patients with community resources for patient needs.
- Active participant in the supportive care services team.
- Contribute to patient education activities including lunch and learn presentations and newsletter blogs.
- Support operations of boutiques for wigs and pantry resources.
- Support volunteer program.
- Assist patients with financial applications for AHCCCS, disability, and charitable foundation grants.
- Flexibility with daily schedule to accommodate some weekend and evening classes.
- Must be flexible and willing to travel to different offices based on the needs of the patients.
- Must be able to type and work on a computer.
- Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.
- Performs other duties as requested by supervisor, administrator, or physicians.
Minimum Qualifications
- Able to function independently and as a member of the supportive care services team.
- Knowledge of and experience with community resources
- Excellent knowledge of community resources and referrals, .i.e., Palliative care, Medicare, AHCCCS, ALTCS, hospice etc.
- Knowledge of medical continuum of care: home health, hospice care, nursing, and rehabilitation
- Previous medical social work and oncology experience preferred.
- Culturally and ethically sensitive to patients’ diverse needs and planning.
- Excellent writing skills.
- Ability to use office equipment, computer.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work.
- Minimum of 2 years of Oncology or Hospice experience required.
- Knowledge of Community Resources and Medical continuum of care.
