WHAT YOU WILL DO:


Responsible for the day-to-day leadership of the production operations. Overseeing group members and ensuring an efficient operation in achieving business goals. Provide leadership and line management to the team, coordinate workload, provide support to ensure the team delivers, monitors issues and ensures production targets and quality standards are met to meet customer requirements. Develop the team by focusing on individual performance and support requirements to achieve high standards while fostering a culture of working safely.


WHAT YOU WILL ACCOMPLISH:


  • Lead by example and perform in a manner that ensures high morale and high performance. Inspire other employees to support company vision, mission, strategies (main things), goals and guiding principles. Responsible for the development of all personal under their direct report.

  • Communicates effectively to all departments.

  • Adheres to all company policies and procedures. All Quality Systems procedures and work instructions are consistently followed.

  • Must be able to work weekends as needed to support customer requirements.

  • Plan, coordinate, and supervise the activities of production team members to meet production schedules and to hold them accountable for their performance.

  • Will prioritize team members, production jobs and improvement projects on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis.

  • Promoter & person-in-charge of the Lean Manufacturing improvement activities. Track, maintain and work to improve specific department and plant wide performance metrics of OCE (On-Time, Complete and Error-Free) through training, continuous improvement projects, etc.

  • Will provide leadership to the production crew while coaching, mentoring, and training a lean, quality oriented and safety conscious culture.

  • Will communicate to purchasing any material and consumable shortages while assisting in sequencing, ship dates, and deliveries of jobs to customers.

  • Work with Quality Support Tech to analyze any major quality problems, and systematically resolve the problem to prevent its recurrence. Provide quality training for employees while ensuring product meets all quality requirements.

  • Ensure that all safety policies, procedures, and concepts are always adhered to. Lead all safety concerns for production employees until resolved.

  • Responsible for cross-training, developing, and monitoring the training/skill level status of direct reports.

  • Provide guidance, counsel, and direction to direct reports, documentation done accurately and on time (EZ labor, performance, and behavior issues).

  • Any other duties that may be necessary to accomplish the goals of this position or goals of the company.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:


  • Education: High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and three to six years leadership or plastics related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and industry experience.

  • Certifications: Able to become certified as ASQ Quality Improvement Associate within one year of hire.

  • Technology Skills: Able to use Microsoft products (MSWord, PowerPoint, Excel). Able to effectively use.

  • Mathematical Skills: Ability to apply concepts of basic mathematics. Understanding of SPC concepts.

  • Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables.

  • Judgement and Decision Making: Seeks guidance and direction as necessary for performance of duties. Demonstrates good judgment in investigating problems.

  • Relationship With Others: Follows Company’s Guiding Principles when interacting with all internal and external associates. Initiative-taker who can work independently and learn quickly. Ability to communicate and collaborate with diverse individuals.

  • Planning And Time Utilization: Makes the best use of time during the workday. Consistently shows the ability to recognize and deal with priorities. Ability to meet deadlines as established by the Multi Site Operations Manager.

  • Initiative: Performs all duties in an independent manner with little supervision. Recognizes and performs duties which need to be performed although not directly assigned and assists others as needed. Proactively confronts & corrects deviations from established policies and standards. Has a “Can Do” attitude, a team player, willing to teach/train others to prevent quality issues, works with a sense of urgency and focus on continuous improvement efforts/projects.

  • Attendance And Reliability: Provides proper notification and advance notice for non-emergency absences. Reports to work on time; promptly returning from lunch and breaks, and not leaving work early.

The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 30lbs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, and ability to adjust focus.

OTHER IMPORTANT INFORMATION:


Reporting Relationship: The Production Group leader reports to and is fully accountable to the Multi Site Operations Manager. The Production Team Leaders, section leaders and all production shift team members report to the Production Group leader.


Authority: The Production Group Leader receives their authority from the Multi Site Operations Manager. This includes the interviewing and hiring of personnel, to fill an approved opening, after consulting the Multi Site Operations Manager. The Production Group Leader will recommend for removal or termination for any position with a direct reporting relationship. The reason such action is advised must be provided to Human Resources and the Multi Site Operations Manager in writing. The Production Group Leader is responsible for the delegation of specific responsibilities and duties to subordinates, along with the authority to do them, but with the clear understanding that ultimate accountability remains with the Production Group Leader.


Work Environment: Office (20%) and manufacturing environment (80%). While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate and the temperature is climate controlled.

  • Paperwork and reports are produced and submitted in a timely manner.

  • No disciplinary actions need to be taken for breaking company policies, procedures.

  • All Quality Systems procedures and work instructions are consistently followed. This is measured by no internal or external findings that are linked to your department.

  • 5S it at an acceptable level.
