Description
Summer Wranglers are capable, dependable, hard-working, horse and people lovers! These individuals work at Castner Riding Arena under the guidance of the Equine Director BJ (Betty Jo) Stoppelmoor. BJ is a UW-River Falls graduate with 20 years of experience in the equine industry. Wrangler horse staff need to have a good working knowledge of how to handle horses and the equipment and proficiently ride at a walk, trot and lope. The duties of this position include :
- Assisting in horse day and overnight camps for our younger equine enthusiasts.
- Assisting with riding or therapeutic experiences for our programs for disabilities and military.
- Trail rides and pony rides for the public.
- Feeding and care of the horses
- Maintenance and upkeep of the barn.
- Feeding and care of our animals in our animal mini-farm, include miniature horses, donkeys, sheep, pigs, goats, chickens, and our camel Clyde.
- A friendly smile and a love for people are a necessity!
Benefits of this position include :
The general timeframe for this position is from late May / early June until mid-August but you will work with our equine director to establish your availability schedule. Your pay will be determined by age / experience / number of years on summer staff and is on a weekly seasonal basis. You will be paid monthly.
Requirements
You must have several years of horse riding experience, western style preferred but not required. Some experience working at horse stables would be preferred.
