ACCEPTING APPRENTICESHIP APPLICATIONS THE WHOLE MONTH OF MARCH 2022
Overview:
The Ironworkers Local 292 Apprenticeship Program is a 4 year program that consists of 6750 on-the-job training hours, as well as 824 classroom and shop hours. The training focuses on all aspects of commercial steel construction including welding, structural steel erection, reinforcing steel installation, architectural and ornamental construction, precast concrete erection, pre-engineered metal buildings and machinery moving. Apprentices start at a respectable wage and receive health and retirement benefits. There is no cost for the training, however the apprentice will not be paid on school days. After an applicant has been accepted into the Apprenticeship, they will attend classes throughout the year. Apprentices will work in the field for a signatory contractor when they are not attending school. Once all class requirements have been met and all on-the-job hours attained, Journeyman status will be awarded and you will receive an Associates Degree in Applied Science from Ivy Tech.
Requirements to Apply:
- Must be at least 18 years old by August 1, 2022
- Must have a high school diploma or GED
- Must have a valid driver’s license
- Must be able to perform essential job functions of the trade
