Job Title : Speech Therapist
Department : Rehab Services
Status : Full-Time
Schedule : 8am-5pm
Summary / Objective
Provides high quality professional health care to patients of all ages in the hospital or home environment. Strives to provide a level of care that meets the standards prescribed by the hospital. Administers appropriate speech therapy modalities with patients as prescribed by a referring physician.
Essential Functions

- Administers Speech Therapy treatment per physician orders.
- Notes diagnosis of patient and takes all precautions for observing indications and contraindications.
- Prepares patients for treatment by proper dress and position; acquires equipment. Applies oral water materials, breath builder, tongue depressor.
- Makes telephone calls to referring physicians for clarification or elaboration of treatment orders as needed.
- Observes and evaluates treatment effectiveness.
- Recommends change to physician if indicated.
- Discusses condition and treatment course of patients with physician and Director.
- Maintains records pertinent to patient treatment.
- Charts patient’s progress and discharge summary.
- Maintains standards as set down by the Speech and Hearing Association (ASHA) regarding treatment procedure and professional ethics.

These services include but are not limited to an Emergency Room, full service OR suites, an inpatient care unit, therapy services, advanced medical imaging, Home Health, and Hospice Care. The hospital operates rural health clinics in Watseka, IL, Gilman, IL, Milford, IL, Saint Anne, IL and Kentland, IN. The hospital also operates a skilled nursing facility, Iroquois Resident Home, which is attached to the hospital property.
