Job Title: Patient Account Representative

Schedule: Variable, Monday-Friday
Summary/Objective
The Patient Account Representative is responsible for the customer service between the clinic and the patient.
Essential Functions
Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
- Schedules patients for appointments.
- Greets patients and completes registration, confirms insurance eligibility and gathers paperwork necessary to ensure the clinic can bill for services.
- Communicates with patients in person and over the phone to ensure that their requests are recorded and transferred to the appropriate clinic staff, billing staff or administrative staff to handle.
- Sort incoming mail and faxes to appropriate staff.
- Collaborates with other clinic staff, clinic coordinator and Director on process improvements and policy changes.
- Attends monthly meetings and takes an active role in meetings to ensure our patients get the best care.
- Prepares cash for transfer to the Central Billing Office.
- Familiarizes self with Rural Health Manual and follows policies and procedures of IMH.
- Maintains patient confidence and protects operations by keeping information confidential.
- Other duties as assigned.
Education/Experience Requirements
- Proficient typist with computer skills.
- Proven Customer Service skills.
- Previous Medical Experience preferred

Iroquois Memorial Hospital is a 25 bed hospital located in Watseka, Illinois. The hospital facility is comprised of clinical and diagnostic services which are dedicated to providing high quality health care services to the community. These services include but are not limited to an Emergency Room, full service OR suites, an inpatient care unit, therapy services, advanced medical imaging, Home Health, and Hospice Care. The hospital operates rural health clinics in Watseka, IL, Gilman, IL, Milford, IL, Saint Anne, IL and Kentland, IN. The hospital also operates a skilled nursing facility, Iroquois Resident Home, which is attached to the hospital property.
