Job Title: Registered Nurse
Department: Surgery
Status: Full Time, 32-36 hours per week
Schedule: Days
Summary/Objective
Operating room nurses provide care and support to patients before, during, and after surgery. They assist the surgeon and the surgical team in their tasks, keeping the operating room sterile at all times. OR Nurses provide direct and individualized nursing care to patients based on the application of scientific nursing principles.
Essential Functions

- Consult and coordinate with healthcare team members to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care plans.
- Conducts pre and post operative education.
- Serves as a communications liaison to family and members of the operating team.
- Takes and monitors patient’s vital signs.
- Ensures that operating on the correct patient and correct procedure is performed.
- Provides basic bedside care.
- Prepares and administers (orally, subcutaneously, IV) and records prescribed medication. Reports adverse reactions to medications or treatments in accordance with the policy regarding the administration of medications by a licensed RN.
- Responds to life saving situations based upon nursing standards and protocols.
- Records all care information concisely, accurately, and completely in a timely manner in the appropriate format and on the appropriate forms.
- Preps operating room for patient/procedure.
Education/Experience Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
- Minimum of one year OR experience recommended.

Iroquois Memorial Hospital is a 25 bed hospital located in Watseka, Illinois. The hospital facility is comprised of clinical and diagnostic services which are dedicated to providing high quality health care services to the community. These services include but are not limited to an Emergency Room, full service OR suites, an inpatient care unit, therapy services, advanced medical imaging, Home Health, and Hospice Care. The hospital operates rural health clinics in Watseka, IL, Gilman, IL, Milford, IL, Saint Anne, IL and Kentland, IN. The hospital also operates a skilled nursing facility, Iroquois Resident Home, which is attached to the hospital property.
