What are the responsibilities and job description for the Occupational Therapy Assistant position at Iroquois Skilled Nursing Community?
Works under the supervision of a licensed occupational therapist.
Performs patient related activities as are assigned by the supervising occupational therapist.
Documents observations of patient’s behavior and progress in the daily notes, progress notes, recertifications, and discharge notes.
Completes and maintains timely documentation.
Maintains statistical records and other departmental reports as requested by occupational therapist.
Meets with the supervising occupational therapist regularly to review the implementation of treatment plans and to foster professional development.
Provides quality, personalized and evidence-based care, and proven interventions.
Motivates patients during treatment to help them function optimally.
Promotes patients’ healthy lifestyle by improving strength, flexibility, balance, and coordination.
Consults and practices with other health professionals regarding special needs of patients to enhance rehabilitation or maintenance of function.
Provides input for the Care Planning meetings and attends during absences of the DOR upon requested.
Assists with in-service training programs upon request.
Assists with keeping supplies in good order and keeping equipment and the rehab office / gym clean and sanitary.
Submits requisition for supplies needed in the treatment of residents to DOR.
Arrives to work on time, regularly, and working as scheduled, responsible for own transportation.
Observes and practices confidentiality of resident information and privacy when performing job duties.
Recognizes and follows the dress code of the facility including wearing name tag at all times.
Performs assigned duties according to the service excellence standards and goals established for this position, and for all staff members of the facility.
Attends facility meetings, staff meetings, and required or preferred in-services.
Generates and develops ideas which improve the quality of care for patients in the facility.
Performs all position duties according to safety rules and practices required for this position, and as required to ensure the general safety of staff, residents and visitors of this facility.
Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of all policies and procedures and ability to reference them from appropriate manual.
Exhibits the highest level of customer service towards residents, staff and visitors.
Ability to work with the highest efficiency and time management.
Exhibits flexibility and consistently demonstrates the ability to respond to changing situations to meet facility and patient needs.
Follows policy and procedure regarding all electronic devices, computers, tablets, etc.
