Position Summary:
We are seeking a passionate and innovative 4th Grade Science and Social Studies Teacher to join our dynamic teaching team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for delivering engaging, hands-on lessons in science and social studies, fostering a love for learning, and helping students develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills in both subjects. The teacher will also be responsible for assessing student progress, differentiating instruction, and creating a classroom environment that supports inquiry, exploration, and growth.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and deliver effective, standards-based instruction in science and social studies to 4th grade students.
- Develop lesson plans, activities, and assessments that are aligned with curriculum standards and engage students in active learning.
- Integrate technology, experiments, and other resources to enhance student understanding of scientific and social studies concepts.
- Use a variety of teaching strategies to meet the diverse needs of all learners, including differentiated instruction for students with varying abilities.
- Assess student performance through formative and summative assessments, and adjust instruction accordingly to support student growth.
- Encourage curiosity, collaboration, and inquiry through group projects, class discussions, and interactive learning experiences.
- Provide timely and constructive feedback to students, and communicate regularly with parents about student progress and classroom events.
- Foster a positive and respectful classroom environment that promotes cooperation, responsibility, and teamwork.
- Collaborate with fellow teachers, school staff, and administrators to support the academic, social, and emotional growth of students.
- Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current on best practices in education.
Qualifications:
- Valid state teaching certification for Elementary Education (4th Grade).
- Experience teaching science and/or social studies at the elementary level (preferred).
- Ability to create engaging, hands-on, and inquiry-based lessons that foster curiosity and critical thinking.
- Effective classroom management skills with the ability to maintain a positive and inclusive learning environment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with students, parents, and colleagues.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
