Position Summary:
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated 5th Grade Special Education Teacher to join our educational team. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing individualized and small group instruction to students with diverse learning needs, ensuring they receive the appropriate accommodations and modifications in the classroom to help them succeed academically, socially, and emotionally.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with disabilities, ensuring that all goals and objectives are met.
- Collaborate with general education teachers to adapt the curriculum and classroom environment for students with special needs.
- Provide direct instruction in small groups or one-on-one settings based on students’ IEPs.
- Assess student progress regularly and make necessary adjustments to teaching strategies.
- Manage classroom behavior using positive reinforcement strategies and behavior management techniques.
- Communicate regularly with parents/guardians regarding student progress, behavior, and concerns.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records on students’ progress, behavior, and IEP goals.
- Work closely with support staff, including teacher assistants, speech therapists, and occupational therapists.
- Attend and participate in IEP meetings, team meetings, and professional development sessions.
- Create a supportive, inclusive, and respectful learning environment for all students.
Qualifications:
- Valid state certification in Special Education for the appropriate grade level (5th Grade).
- Knowledge of IEP development, implementation, and compliance.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to differentiate instruction to meet the varied needs of students.
- Ability to build positive relationships with students, families, and colleagues.
- Strong classroom management skills.
