Job Description
Under the Executive Director’s direction and collaboration with leadership teams, the Instructional Coach supports instructional staff in the dual language program. Key roles include facilitator, demonstration teacher, coach, and mentor/co-teacher.
Essential Functions
- Provide coaching support and assistance in the implementation of our Chinese curriculum;
- Provide support and assistance in the development of lesson plans that include scaffolding for higher levels of critical thinking and oral and written academic language development;
- Advise teachers concerning the development, implementation, and presentation of lesson plans;
- Observe lessons and provide informal feedback to teachers concerning instructional strategies and classroom practices aligned with research and standards-based instruction, and assist teachers with utilizing assessment to inform instruction;
- Conduct demonstration lessons to model effective instruction and access strategies, including student engagement, checking for understanding, and using data to make instructional decisions;
- Provide support and advice to enhance instructional performance and assist teachers in diagnosing difficulties and planning appropriate intervention and accommodation strategies for all students in need of special assistance, including ELL, Special Education, GATE, and other students with special learning needs;
- Develop and implement strategies and training activities to enhance educational effectiveness and student learning;
- Support the ongoing development and implementation of district-wide benchmark assessments and related data-management programs; Required Qualifications:
Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and skills is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required knowledge and skills would be:
Experience:
- At least five years of experience teaching in a content area to all student populations including ELL, GATE, and special education.
- Experience mentoring teachers
- Experience with staff development planning, facilitation, and presentation of educator professional development in language instruction
Minimum Education:
- Any combination equivalent to: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
Licenses/Certificates:
- Valid and appropriate California Teaching Credential
- EL authorization
- Valid California driver’s license
Desirable Qualifications:
- Advanced training or certification in related areas (e.g., National Board Certification, Master’s Degree in curriculum/instruction)
- Previous site leadership team experience
- Bilingual in English and Mandarin.
- BCLAD (Bilingual Cross-cultural Language and Academic Development) certification in one or more of the following languages: Mandarin.
- Experience in Dual Language Program
- Possess or working towards Administration Credential
Salary : $56,160 - $124,547
