Technical Writer (Windows 11 Instructional Content)
We have an immediate need for a Technical Writer to join a real estate holding company for a 3-6 month contract. This role will create clear, concise, and user-friendly instructional content for end users of Windows 11. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of Windows 11, with a passion for translating complex technical concepts into easy-to-follow guides, manuals, FAQs, and troubleshooting materials.
Location: Remote capable. Hybrid or onsite in Charlotte, NC preferred.
This job expects to pay about $40-60/hr plus benefits
What You Will Do:
- Create User-Focused Documentation: Develop a variety of content including user manuals, how-to guides, tutorials, installation instructions, and troubleshooting documents for Windows 11 users.
- Simplify Complex Concepts: Break down technical details into easy-to-understand language, ensuring documentation is accessible to non-technical audiences.
- Update Existing Content: Regularly review and update existing documents to reflect the latest Windows 11 features, updates, and best practices.
- Collaboration with Cross-Functional Teams: Work closely with software developers, product managers, and customer support teams to gather information, clarify technical concepts, and align content with product goals.
- Maintain Consistent Formatting and Style: Follow established documentation style guides and ensure consistency across all content produced.
- Feedback Integration: Actively gather feedback from end users and stakeholders to refine and improve documentation.
- Support Documentation Accessibility: Ensure that documentation is accessible to diverse user groups, including those with disabilities.
What Gets You The Job:
- Proven experience as a Technical Writer or in a similar role, with a focus on creating documentation for software or technology products for instructional design
- Strong understanding of Windows 11 features, settings, and user interfaces.
- Excellent written communication skills, with a strong command of grammar, spelling, and syntax.
- Ability to write clear, concise, and user-friendly documentation that caters to both novice and advanced users.
- Familiarity with various documentation tools (e.g., Microsoft Word, Markdown, Confluence, or others).
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple writing projects simultaneously.
- Attention to detail and a passion for delivering high-quality content.
