WAGE/HOUR STATUS: Nonexempt
FUNDING SOURCE: General Fund
REPORTS TO: Assistant Director of Facilities/ Maintenance Manager
PAY GRADE: Facilities - 10
DUTY DAYS: 261 days
DEPARTMENT: Facilities
This position is eligible for a Letter of Assurance.

PRIMARY PURPOSE: Administer the daily operations and activities associated with the structural department and related trades. Provide a safe and attractive atmosphere and contribute to operational excellence in areas including but not limited to carpentry, locks and doors, roofing, painting, safety, and compliance.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum Education/Certification:
- Bachelor’s Degree, preferred
- Related training and experience may be considered in lieu of degree
- Valid Texas Class C driver’s license and proof of insurability with District insurance carrier
Special Knowledge/Skills:
- Demonstrated ability to interpret and apply laws, policies, procedures, regulations, and codes Technical and specialized expertise in analyzing, designing, and implementing programs for providing solutions to complex structural and administrative issues.
- Operational knowledge of tools and equipment used in structural maintenance Ability to lead, supervise, and evaluate personnel
- Strong organizational, communication (verbal and written), and interpersonal skills.
- Proficient computer skills Bilingual Spanish, preferred ability to utilize technology resources relevant to position
Minimum Experience :
- Minimum five years related supervisory experience in educational environment, preferred
- Management level experience in construction industry, military, or governmental agency may be considered
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND JOB DUTIES:
PERSONNEL MANAGEMENT:
COMMUNICATION
20.Communicate effectively with principals, department directors, and other personnel responsible for directing the district’s educational and extra-curricular programs to update them on status of projects that affect conditions in and around schools and facilities.
21.Promote an image of service, dedication, and dependability within the Facilities Department to students, staff, and the community.
22.Promote teamwork and a spirit of cooperation and high morale with Facilities Department supervisory staff and throughout the department.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSBILITIES:
Supervise and evaluate the performance of structural employees within the maintenance department. Supervise additional district staff during summer related projects.
WORKING CONDITIONS:

Should be able to interpret procedures and analyze data for decision-making. Frequent in-district and occasional in-state or national travel. Occasional prolonged and irregular hours.

Posture: Prolonged siting and standing; frequent kneeling/squatting, bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting
Motion: Frequent walking, climbing stairs/ladders/scaffolding, grasping/squeezing, wrist flexion/extension, and overhead reaching; frequent driving :
Lifting: Lifting and carrying up to 55 pounds without assistance, more than 55 pounds with appropriate assistance, daily
Environment: Work outside and inside, on slippery or uneven walking surfaces, on ladders or scaffolding; may work on rooftops; frequent exposure to extreme hot and cold temperatures, dust, toxic chemicals and materials, noise, vibration, and electrical hazards; work around machinery with moving parts; may work in tight or enclosed spaces; may work alone; may work irregular and prolonged hours; frequent districtwide travel here for samples
Mental Demands: Maintain emotional control under stress and exercise reasoning and problem-solving under pressure
Safety: Contribute to the prevention of accidents and injuries by observing safety rules and District policy, practicing the principles and skills taught in safety training, wearing personal protective equipment as required, reporting injuries and incidences immediately to the supervisor, and being proactive in the ongoing efforts to improve and maintain workplace safety.
