QUALIFICATIONS :
Minimum Education / Certification :
- High School Diploma or GED
- Able to read and comprehend verbal and written instructions of supervisor
- able to complete written reports as necessary to the functions of this assignment.
Special Knowledge / Skills :
Demonstrated success in performing a wide variety of tasks requiring an understanding and proficiency in all aspects of Roofing Industry and minor carpenter skillsPossess a valid Texas Class C driver's license and prove insurability with the District's insurance carrier;Ability to read plans and blueprintsDemonstrated ability to work and get along with people.Minimum Experience :
3 years of carpenter and roofing experience.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES :
Perform roofing repairs on the following roofing materials, Modified Built, TPO (Thermoplastic), PVC ((PolyPlastic), Built-up Gravel, Metal, and Shingle systems.Record all materials used and man hours worked on projects and keep the Structural Foreman informed on job costs.Inspect problems roofs to determine the best repair proceduresCover exposed nail heads, screws and fasteners with roofing compounds or caulking to prevent water leakage or rust.Perform roof inspections of contractors to ensure that the system is being applied per specification.Process the ability to use small power tools, torches and heat guns.Flash around vent stacks, pitch pans, curbs, exhaust and heat stacks.Give on-the-job instruction and training to carpenters and helpers;Practice high standards of safety in performance of all duties;Respond to pages in a timely manner while serving on-call duty;Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Carpenter Lead or as directed by supervisors with the line of authority in the Facilities Department.SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES :
No supervisory responsibilities.
