REPORTS TO: Campus Principal
PAY GRADE: Teacher salary schedule (187 10 days)
DEPARTMENT: Bilingual, ESL & Language Services

PRIMARY PURPOSE: To advance student achievement at the assigned campus for Emergent Bilingual students by providing direct instruction to Emergent Bilingual students and direct support to administrators, classroom teachers, and other support staff.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum Education/Certification:
Valid Texas Bilingual Teacher Certificate or ESL Certificate , required- Master's Degree, preferred
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Specific knowledge of education laws, policies, procedures and effective teaching practices for EB students- Specific knowledge of the English Language Proficiency Standards and Linguistic Accommodations
- Specific Knowledge of the Proficiency Level Descriptors (PLDS)
- Knowledge of research based instructional practices, and techniques for making content comprehensible for EB students
- Knowledge of Dual Language and research-based practices to support campuses with implementation and sustainment of programs
- Ability to plan, and facilitate professional learning related to EB programs across content areas
- Ability to conduct deep data analysis and create plans for instructional targets based on identified needs
- Ability to articulate program goals to campus and district stakeholders
- Ability to work cooperatively with others
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Minimum Experience :
At least three (3) years successful experience as a teacher serving EB students

Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors: Must maintain emotional control and exercise reasoning and problem solving skills while under stress. Must demonstrate ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written). Should be able to interpret procedures and analyze data for decision-making. Regularly lifting of 15 to 45 pounds of instructional or presentation materials.
Safety: Contribute to the prevention of accidents and injuries by observing safety rules and District policy, practicing the principles and skills taught in safety training, wearing personal protective equipment as required, reporting injuries and incidences immediately to supervisor, and being proactive in the ongoing efforts to improve and maintain workplace safety.
