JOB TITLE: Bil/ESL Teacher for Elementary ELL Early Childhood (EC) Summer Program
REPORTS TO: Elementary Bilingual/ESL Coordinator and Program Facilitator
DEPARTMENT: 880
PRIMARY PURPOSE: The BIL/ESL teacher is responsible for supporting students with language development and the essential knowledge and skills appropriate for the level of the students within the content areas.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Certifications:
- Valid Texas teaching certificate for subject/level assigned
- Bachelor's Degree
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Must possess one or more of the following skills:
- Has experience scaffolding
- Has experience with small group instruction
- Has experience with teaching ELLs
Minimum Experience:
- Irving certified teacher with a minimum of 3 years of experience
- Understands and uses sheltered instruction in lesson design and delivery
- Has experience working with students in PK-K
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
It is the teacher’s responsibility to prepare and follow with fidelity the curriculum provided and presented during training during the summer program. The BIL/ESL teacher will work closely with the English Language Learner Early Childhood Summer Program Facilitator, Elementary BIL/ESL Coordinator, other teachers, and students. All other duties as assigned by the facilitator. Appropriate dress is required as per IISD Dress Code.
