What are the responsibilities and job description for the Quality Control Lead position at Irving Knight Group?
Overview:
The position will be responsible for quality testing of all formulas and raw materials, and for analytical and technical support to Operations, R&D, suppliers and customers. QC Technologist will be a Team Lead and responsible for managing a QC Technologist and QC Technician.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
· Follow basic GLP, GMP, and Safety standards.
· Perform QC equipment checks and calibrations.
· Maintain QC laboratory, stocking/purchasing supplies and raw materials.
· Maintain proper storage and organization of QC product retains.
· Conduct all standard QC testing procedures. Make confident decisions and dispositions for all physical and sensory tests.
· Initiate and inform pertinent parties of all material rejections and deviations. Provide accurate and complete information and documentation to allow for proper root cause and corrective action follow-up.
· Create and maintain Finished Product and Raw Material Quality Specifications.
· Communicate all outstanding quality issues with the entire QC team.
· Maintain and update specific product testing procedures and individual lot data.
· Raw Material sampling for QC.
· Performs Production equipment checks and swabbing
· Maintain and keep up to date, Operations/Lab documents and check sheets
· Encourages trust between Operations and Quality
· Correct/fix product deviations and rejections.
· Complete or assist with Regulatory documentation.
· Introduce/initiate continuous improvement opportunities, departmental and companywide.
· Provide training and guidance to Technicians.
· Participate and represent the QC dept in company meetings.
· Confidently communicate with Suppliers and Customers.
· Support the investigation of customer/vendor non-conformances.
· Maintain/update QC SOP’s for accuracy.
· Assist with maintaining inventory accuracies by timely dispositions (approval, rework, rejections)
· Follow and report trending for rejections and deviations.
· Initiate rejection and deviation reports for non-conforming products
· Perform other activities as instructed.
Education and/or Work Experience and Other Requirements:
· B.S. in Food Science, Chemistry or related Science field with some laboratory experience, or 5 years prior Quality Control experience.
· Clear understanding of laboratory equipment.
· Strong leadership skills/ managerial skills
· Knowledge of laboratory procedures.
· Good problem solving, communication and interpersonal skills.
· Computer skills; Word, Excel, Outlook.
Physical Requirements:
· Standing for extended periods of time, able to lift up to 50 lbs.
Salary : $100,000 - $110,000
