Job Description
The Director of Engineering and Projects will lead the engineering and project management functions within the company, ensuring the successful execution of all engineering initiatives and capital projects. This role will involve strategic planning, resource management, and collaboration with cross-functional teams to drive project success and enhance operational efficiency. It is based in the Greater Indianapolis, IN, area and will report to the President of imi Aggregates.
What You’ll Do:
- Safety Leadership: Actively promote safety by engaging employees at all levels to prioritize health and safety in their daily activities and demonstrating accountability for safety practices.
- Strategic Leadership: Provide strategic direction and leadership for engineering and projects, fostering a culture of innovation and accountability.
- Project Oversight: Oversee the planning, design, and execution of engineering projects, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and in compliance with safety and environmental standards.
- Engineering Excellence: Establish and implement best practices in engineering design, project management, and quality control to enhance operational efficiency.
- Resource Management: Allocate resources effectively, managing budgets, timelines, and personnel to ensure project success.
- Collaboration: Work closely with operations, procurement, and environmental teams to ensure alignment and integration of engineering efforts with overall company goals.
- Risk Management: Identify and mitigate potential project risks, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards.
- Innovation: Drive the adoption of new technologies and methodologies to improve project outcomes and operational performance.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Communicate project progress and outcomes to senior leadership and key stakeholders, ensuring transparency and collaboration.
Requirements
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mining, Civil, or Mechanical preferred)
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in engineering and project management within the mining or heavy industry sector.
- Proven experience in leading large-scale engineering projects from conception to completion.
- Strong knowledge of mining operations, safety regulations, and environmental compliance.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage stakeholders at all levels.
