What are the responsibilities and job description for the Director position at Irving Park Early Learning?
We are a small, woman and minority-owned childcare center in the Chicago area looking to hire an enthusiastic and dedicated Director . As a Director, parents and teachers will look to you for answers, direction, and assistance. You will be trusted with a wide range of tasks that will be essential to the smooth running of the School. The Director reports to the owner and works heavily in connection with her.
A Director must meet the following qualifications:
- Positive attitude and a passion for children
- Flexibility
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency in MS Office
- previous management experience in a licensed childcare facility or experience managing faculty members or staff (5-10 years’ experience required)
- the ability to provide effective training to faculty members in performing their responsibilities and complying with all applicable laws, regulations and standards;
- the ability to supervise children with sight and hearing at all times;
- the ability to change children’s diapers or assist in toileting where necessary;
- the ability to understand and comply with IPELC policies and procedures;
- the ability to communicate effectively and professionally with staff, children and parents;
- the ability to handle crisis situations, including assisting in evacuating the building during emergencies;
- the ability to comply in all respects with all applicable laws and regulations relating to childcare.
Educational Qualification
All candidates who wish to be considered for the position of education director must meet one or more of the following criteria and any and all requirements that may be mandated by DCFS.
- 60 Semester, or 90 quarter hours of college credit with 18 semester or 27 quarter hours in courses directly related to childcare and/or child development from birth to age 6.
- Two years (3120 clocked hours) of child development experience
- Completion of Child Care Administration course
