- Responsible for ensuring assets are adequately maintained with necessary tools, materials, and supplies needed for operation. Responsible for Operational supply ordering and the Paper machine clothing ordering and record keeping.
- Coordinate maintenance and operational resources on a daily basis and a down day basis
- Monitor measurement systems to ensure consistency between crews and assist in communicating key performance indicators to the crews. Support capability development and provide feedback for operating teams. Lead teams through trouble-shooting exercises leading to process stability and improvement. Coach/develop/mentor Process Techs and Process Engineer
- Ensure the team is following the department and the site safe work practices, SOP’s and corporate/site policies. Ensure the team is staying compliant with the site safety and convergence. Ensure housekeeping and overall department appearance meet or exceed company standards
- Utilize the green belt tools by leading and supporting Kaizen and point events. Run and lead a minimum of two green belt projects a year
- Ensure Payroll is accurate and address any issues
The Paper Mill Operations Leader is responsible for the day-to-day operation of the Paper Mill. Through proactively coordinating and leading the manufacturing operations by ensuring the achievement of department objectives for Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, and People. The successful candidate will build trusting, respectful work relationships within the department and with our customers. By developing a climate which encourages the participation and involvement of all employees to pursue continuous development and continuous improvement.
Education:
Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering, Pulp and Paper Science, Mechanical Engineering or related field of engineering.
Experience:
- 5 years’ experience in an operations leadership role in a Consumer-Packaged Goods processing facility
- Strong coaching and mentoring skills with experience in leading change
- Excellent communication skills, comfortable presenting to senior level audiences
- Ability to influence with and without authority
- Advanced systems aptitude and excellent computer skills, including Microsoft Excel
- Previous experience in paper industry is an asset
