What are the responsibilities and job description for the Experienced Shear Operator position at Irving Tool & Mfg. Co.?
- RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Minimum 2 years experience preferred
- Receives shop traveler from scheduling department with type of material and quantity needed
- Determines quantity of blanks needed by dividing order quantity by number of parts if not specifically listed on traveler
- Pulls raw material from warehouse racks using forklift
- Sets up and operates Cincinnati and Wysong shear to cut raw material to size specified by shop traveler
- Records quantity of raw material sheared on material requisition to be turned in to purchasing; also records quantity on production log sheet
- Places cut material on pallet and transfers it to department listed as the first step on traveler
- Assists with all loading and unloading of trucks using forklift
- Assists Shipping dept. in pulling parts in stock from warehouse racks as needed
- Moves parts between departments according to the order of the steps listed on shop traveler
- Fills out "Operation Card" (located on the back of the travelers) with all required information for each individual job worked on
- Fill out job tickets and turn in on a daily basis
- Prioritize jobs to be sheared by due date; shop travelers marked with three red X's are first priority
- Notifies Purchasing if material needed is not in stock
- NEEDED SKILLS, EDUCATION, OR EXPERIENCE:
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED) or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Must have forklift experience
- Ability to read and interpret documents
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
- Ability to lift/move up to 50 pounds
- Must be able to stand for long periods of time
- Must have good foot, hand, eye coordination
