As a Project Manager / Job Captain, you will play a critical role in coordinating and managing various aspects of architectural projects from concept through completion with substantial growth opportunities. The ideal candidate will have 5–7 years of relevant experience and shows exceptional autonomy in decision-making and responsibility for results. Joining our growing start-up firm, you will work closely and be mentored by our principal and senior architect to ensure projects meet schedule, budget, and quality goals from start to finish.
Qualifications:
- A minimum of 5-7 years of architectural experience.
- Bachelor of Architecture (B. Arch) degree.
- Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, and other design software. Strong knowledge of building codes, construction techniques, and best practices.
- Ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize tasks, and work under strict deadlines.
- Excellent verbal and written communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
- Knowledge or interest in residential, retail and hospitality design is a plus.
Job Requirements:
This position requires a self-directed architect who is motivated on managing the full spectrum of responsibilities of a small, fast-growing Architecture Firm. Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Project Coordination: Oversee the planning, scheduling, and coordination of all project phases, including design development, construction documents, permitting, and construction administration.
- Collaborative Design: Work closely with project architect / designer to forge innovative and pragmatic solutions. Collaborate closely with the design team to develop and document design concepts for interior design and space planning, and ensure projects are on schedule and to the client’s satisfaction.
- Client Communication: Be able to serve as the primary liaison with clients, providing clear project updates and addressing concerns promptly.
- Technical Documentation: Review and prepare construction documents, design specifications, and technical drawings using software such as Revit or AutoCAD. Must be an enthusiast in construction detailing.
- Code Compliance: Stay current on relevant building codes, zoning laws, and industry standards to ensure designs and documentation adhere to all regulations.
- Quality Control: Conduct regular site visits and perform quality reviews of shop drawings and contractor submittals to minimize errors, coordinate changes, and uphold design integrity. Ensure project completion aligns with original design intent.
- CAD Expertise: Leverage AutoCAD / Revit for creating and scrutinizing architectural plans and drawings.
- Brand Cultivation: Contribute to the nurturing and expansion of Irving Yee Architecture's presence in the NYC architectural community.
- Knowledge and Adherence: Stay updated on NYC local laws, industry trends, construction technology and best practices.
- Alteration Review Work: Follow in the footsteps of the principal and senior architect on consulting projects to write review letters of proposed apartment alterations for co-ops and condos throughout NYC. Must be highly motivated to learn and grow in this specialized field.
Employees will be trained and expected to preform Alteration Review Work as part of job.
