Purpose of Position/Summary:
The Irvington Community Middle School Principal serves as the primary academic leader of the school, ensuring that the climate and culture of the building support the achievement of students and the professional growth of the adults who serve those students.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

Curriculum development and implementation of Indiana Academic Standards

Analyzes student achievement data and sets school-wide achievement goals

Coordinates and conducts student retention procedures when warranted
-
Oversees multi-tiered supports for struggling students
-
Attends student case conferences and manifestation meetings as LEA/PAR
-
Drafts student 504 plans when needed
-
Creates professional growth initiatives for staff
-
Creates observation schedule and conducts formal classroom observations
-
Conducts professional development in support of student and school-wide goals
-
Oversees daily operations of school in conjunction with assistant principal
-
Responsible for staffing, recruiting, and hiring for the middle school

Conducts performance management for direct reports
-
Ensures daily coverage for staff absences
-
Serves as the school testing coordinator for standardized tests
-
Develops master schedule and creates individual student schedules
-
Collaborates with Chief Operating Officer and Director of Human Resources to set yearly building budgets and staffing plans
-
Leads committees at the building level and serves as a Senior Management Team in support of the district
-
Supports Irvington Community Schools Corporate programs and initiatives as a representative of ICS
Job Requirements:
-
Bachelor’s degree in education related field; Master’s degree in school administration; Indiana state administrator’s license is required

5 years classroom teaching experience is required

Strong verbal and written communication skills

Ability to lead people effectively

Ability to adapt when unforeseen schedule changes or complications arise

Knowledge of Charter schools and the special challenges they face

Strong organization and self-motivation skills
