Job Title: IT Intern (Summer 2025)
Position Overview
The IT Intern will work closely with software engineers and data analysts to analyze legacy data, design data transfer solutions, and ensure a seamless transition. This internship offers a valuable opportunity to contribute to Irwin's digital transformation by assisting in the migration of historical data from legacy systems to our centralized data warehouse and newer enterprise applications. This role will provide valuable exposure to business practices, database architecture, data normalization and transcription, problem-solving, and technical debt management.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with software engineering and data analytics teams to analyze legacy data residing in Access and Excel databases.
- Design and implement solutions for migrating this data to enterprise solutions. This may include designing APIs, copying databases, or other appropriate methods.
- Assist in the normalization and transcription of data as needed.
- Contribute to the problem-solving process related to data migration challenges.
- Learn and apply best practices for managing technical debt.
Qualifications
- Currently pursuing a degree in Information Systems/Technology or a related field.
- Sophomore year or above.
- Strong interest in data management, database design, and software engineering.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Familiarity with database concepts and tools (Access, Excel) is a plus.
- Basic understanding of APIs is a plus.
Internship Duration & Commitment:
- 10-12 weeks, from early June to mid-August (flexible).
- Full-time commitment.
