Job Title: Upholstery Design Specialist
Position Overview
As an Upholstery Design Specialist at Irwin, you will be responsible for designing and developing innovative upholstery styles, patterns, and techniques to enhance our product offerings. You will collaborate closely with design, engineering, and production teams to create high-quality, trend-forward upholstery solutions that align with our brand’s vision.
Responsibilities
- Develop and refine upholstery styles, patterns, and techniques to meet design and functional requirements.
- Research and implement innovative materials, stitching methods, and construction techniques.
- Collaborate with designers and product engineers to prototype and test new upholstery concepts.
- Ensure feasibility and manufacturability of upholstery designs for production including training on newly developed patterns
- Work closely with the Special Product Request team to support unique and custom upholstery projects.
- Stay informed on industry trends, materials, and emerging technologies to drive innovation.
- Provide technical guidance on upholstery applications and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
Qualifications
- 3 years of experience in upholstery design, textile development, or a related field.
- Strong knowledge of upholstery materials, fabrication methods, and production processes.
- Multi-lingual proficiency (Chinese, Spanish) is a plus.
- Creativity and problem-solving skills to develop unique and functional upholstery solutions.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced development environment.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and talk or listen. The employee frequently is required to walk. The employee is often required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and ability to adjust focus.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be exposed to moving mechanical parts and loud machinery. The noise level in the work environment is moderately loud.

FLSA Status: Exempt
Compensation: $68,000 - $82,000. This range represents a good faith estimate for this position. Individual pay is determined based on several factors, including but not limited to: relevant work experience, job-related knowledge, skills, and complexity of the role.
