Position: Coding and Clinical Documentation Auditor
Reporting: VP of Product

Reporting to the VP of Product, the Auditor will collaborate closely to fine-tune our AI product for autonomous E/M professional coding. The ideal candidate will have a strong background as a Coding/Billing Manager in a physician’s office, with expertise in Evaluation & Management (E&M) coding, medical billing workflows, and medical necessity/denial management. This role requires a self-starter who can work independently, act as the in-house subject matter expert for the development team and engage with clients during beta testing phases.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Review AI-generated medical documentation to validate assigned E&M codes for accuracy and compliance.
Act as the primary coding and billing expert for the development team, providing guidance on professional billing requirements to ensure compliance with healthcare regulations and standards.
Analyze documentation and coding patterns to provide structured feedback to the AI product team.
Identify common causes of claim denials and collaborate with the team to implement AI-driven solutions to prevent multiple resubmissions.
Collaborate with the product development team to ensure the AI engine is equipped with all necessary data points for accurate coding and claim submission.
Provide expert insights on denial management strategies, including proper documentation to prevent payer rejections and audits.
Serve as an Auditor for Pro-Fee billing, ensuring compliance with professional fee billing requirements.
Engage with clients as a subject matter expert during committee meetings and beta testing phases with physicians.
Reporting: Generate and present reports on audit findings, coding discrepancies, and overall compliance trends. Provide actionable insights to improve processes and reduce coding errors.
Collaboration: Work closely with client stakeholders and internal teams to serve as the subject matter expert and to drive alignment between product and client requirements. Participate in customer calls, helping to ensure customers understand the nuances of autonomous coding capabilities.
Continuing Education: Stay updated with the latest changes in coding systems, regulations, and industry standards to ensure continued compliance and best practices. Assist the team in monitoring current industry trends for potential impacts on the configuration of the coding engine.
Qualifications:
7 years of experience in E&M coding, medical billing, denial management, and compliance.
Certified Professional Coder (CPC, CCS, CRC, RHIT, CEMC, or equivalent certification) required.
Auditor experience in Pro-Fee billing is required.
Strong knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial payer coding regulations.
Experience in medical denial management, including identifying denial trends and implementing solutions.
Ability to work directly with AI engineers and product teams to improve AI-assisted coding accuracy and compliance.
Preferred Skills:
Experience as a Coding/Billing Manager in a physician’s office.
Must be a self-starter with the ability to work independently and proactively provide insights.
Experience with AI-assisted coding tools or a willingness to learn AI-driven automation processes is a plus.
Detail-oriented with excellent analytical and communication skills.
