Position Summary: The Apprentice Teacher program is a two-year program which provides a unique opportunity for individuals who are enthusiastic about making a significant impact in the lives of students to gain in-depth classroom experience with highly effective Journey Teachers. Ideal candidates will bring a solid foundation in ensuring high levels of learning for all students. Candidates must possess the ability to develop strong relationships with students, families and colleagues, optimism, resiliency, curiosity, perseverance, and passion for personal growth and student success. A passion for learning, and the ability to develop strong relationships with colleagues, families, and students are essential for success in this role. Upon successful completion of the program, the Apprentice teacher will earn a bachelor's degree with a tier 3 license.
Position Requirements: Eligibility requirements include being a classified employee in good standing; Associates' degree (or 53 credits) from an accredited college/university; and acceptance to a partnering university and their teacher education program.
-We are currently hiring candidates for our Special Education Program in the areas of Autism Spectrum Disorder / Emotional and Behavioral Disorders (ASD/EBD) in partnership with a partnering university.

Physical Demands: This work requires the occasional exertion of up to 25 pounds of force; work regularly requires standing and speaking or hearing, frequently requires walking, sitting, using hands to finger, handle or feel and reaching with hands and arms and occasionally requires climbing or balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling, pushing or pulling, lifting and repetitive motions; work has standard vision requirements; vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word and conveying detailed or important instructions to others accurately, loudly or quickly; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels and to receive detailed information through oral communications and/or to make fine distinctions in sound; work requires preparing and analyzing written or computer data, visual inspection involving small defects and/or small parts, operating machines and observing general surroundings and activities; work occasionally requires exposure to bloodborne pathogens and may be required to wear specialized personal protective equipment; work is generally in a moderately noisy location (e.g. business office, light traffic).

Essential Job functions include but are not limited to the following:
1. Apprentice Teacher will work closely under the guidance of a Journey Teacher to master the profession's intricacies; utilize evidence-based programs and interventions tailored to individual student needs; employ data-driven decision-making to inform program and instructional choices; implement culturally and linguistically responsive teaching practices to support all students' achievement; reflect on teaching practices using various techniques to foster continuous improvement.
2. Apprentice Teachers support students by providing one-on-one and small group tutoring daily, and small group intervention and student support; observe Journey Teachers in order to improve instructional techniques and classroom management; and meet regularly with a coach to implement feedback on lessons and instruction.
3. Apprentice Teachers, under the direction of the Journey Teacher, will gradually take on more responsibilities throughout the year including periodically planning and delivering instruction in compliance with Standards of Effective Practice (SEPS) to meet academic standards; designing and implementing assessments that measure progress toward academic standards; participating in collaborative curriculum writing and lesson planning; and participating in school-wide functions and events.
4. Apprentice Teachers will serve as critical support team members and help with duties including arrival, lunch, recess and other "all hands on deck" duties to help us best serve our students.
This is a full-time paid teaching apprenticeship, including health benefits. Aside from extensive professional development, all our teacher apprentices will be equipped with a laptop computer, email, high-speed internet access and all necessary instructional supplies.
Salary: Rates of pay are based on the North Branch Support Staff Association contract and determined by years of experience with additional compensation provided based on progress toward a Bachelor's degree.
North Branch Area Public Schools is a growing district, enrolling approximately 2,700 students and is located 40 minutes north of the Twin Cities on Interstate 35.
