Job Summary:
As the Shop Operations Manager, you will lead and manage front-line employees to maintain high standards of safety, quality, and efficiency. You will collaborate with leadership, supervisors, and team leads to optimize processes, set KPIs, and ensure compliance with environmental, health, and safety regulations. Your role will be pivotal in driving productivity while maintaining a safe, positive work environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and lead front-line employees; partner with HR to hire, train, and provide performance evaluations.
- Develop, organize, and oversee employee schedules to meet operational goals.
- Handle employee discipline and terminations in collaboration with HR.
- Collaborate with leadership to set KPIs, and analyze performance data to drive improvements.
- Maintain a strong presence in the shop to monitor product quality and ensure compliance with safety and quality standards.
- Identify and resolve process, equipment, or skills-related issues to improve efficiency.
- Ensure compliance with federal and state laws and implement best practices for EH&S.
- Lead initiatives to create and maintain SOPs for all processes within the shop.
- Work with leadership to develop cost-effective labor and material strategies.
- Lead by example and take on other duties as needed.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Strong organizational and time management skills with keen attention to detail.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Proven leadership and supervisory experience in a high-paced, manufacturing environment.
- Knowledge of safety and health regulations.
- Understanding of production processes, quality control, and cost management.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Education & Experience:
- Associate’s degree in a related field, or equivalent industry experience required; Bachelor’s degree in Management, Engineering, Business, or related field preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of supervisory experience, ideally in manufacturing or a similar industry.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged standing and walking through the facility.
- Occasional sitting at a desk for administrative tasks.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds as needed.
- Good visual acuity for inspecting products and machinery.
