Position Summary:
The Customs Analyst will be responsible for the end-to-end management of U.S. import data, post-entry processes, and customs compliance reporting. This position will serve as a key point of contact between internal stakeholders and customs brokers, ensuring accuracy in entry filings, supporting duty recovery initiatives, and analyzing global trade data to support corporate compliance objectives. The ideal candidate is analytical, detail-oriented, and experienced in navigating U.S. Customs requirements and Free Trade Agreement documentation.
Key Responsibilities:
Collect and consolidate daily broker files and ACE data for financial reporting
Verify data receipt from brokers (e.g., Buckland), follow up with EXL, and upload final files to internal Teams site
Eventually take over the full file merge process from Finance
Support monthly compliance reporting by finalizing and validating late-period trade data
Investigate duty spikes within specific reporting periods and prepare findings for weekly meetings (e.g., Wednesday 12:30 with Lynch)
Conduct deep data mining and investigative analysis on escalations (HTS, part numbers, COO, FTA eligibility, duties paid, etc.)
Respond to inquiries from Sales, Purchasing, and other functions with researched summaries and recommendations
Cross-reference various documentation sources (broker files, 7501s, FOCUS certs, etc.) to validate and resolve discrepancies
Lead post-entry and duty recovery efforts, including backlog resolution, CBP filing coordination, and broker follow-up
Monitor broker compliance and documentation submission; resolve missing entry packages or misfiled data
Track duty refunds and ensure correct allocation to the General Ledger
Create and deliver periodic reports and presentations for internal stakeholders (e.g., weekly Purchasing meetings)
Contribute to process improvements and identify new compliance and reporting opportunities as they arise
Required Qualifications:
Experience:
5–10 years of U.S. import/export experience involving global shipments
Extensive knowledge of customs documentation, entry filing, and recordkeeping
Familiarity with Free Trade Agreements (FTA) and Certificates of Origin (COO)
Strong understanding of classification and tariff codes (global experience is a plus)
Technical Skills:
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (including Power Query)
Experience with Power BI for reporting and analytics
PowerPoint proficiency for internal presentations
Ability to develop and standardize reporting tools and processes

Proactive mindset with the ability to handle complex data investigations
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related discipline
Customs-related certifications (e.g., CCS, CES) are a plus
