Position Title: Science Department Head & AP Physics Instructor
Position Overview:
We are seeking an accomplished and passionate Science educator to lead our Science Department while teaching Advanced Placement (AP) Physics. This role encompasses overseeing the Biology, Chemistry, and Physics programs and fostering a culture of scientific excellence across the school. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in teaching, curriculum development, and leadership. This position reports directly to the Head of School.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership & Administration:
- Oversee and manage the Science Department, ensuring alignment with the school’s mission and academic goals.
- Collaborate with faculty to develop and enhance the curriculum for Biology, Chemistry, and Physics, maintaining rigorous academic standards.
- Mentor and support Science faculty in implementing best teaching practices.
- Coordinate departmental resources and ensure the availability of lab equipment and materials.
Teaching:
- Instruct AP Physics courses, fostering student engagement and mastery of advanced content.
- Utilize innovative teaching methods and technology to enhance learning outcomes.
- Evaluate student progress and provide timely feedback to support their academic growth.
Extracurricular Programs:
- Plan, organize, and oversee the annual Science Fair, encouraging student participation and innovation.
- Lead and support the school’s Robotics program, including coaching students for competitions and fostering teamwork and technical skills.
Collaboration & Communication:
- Work closely with the Head of School to align departmental initiatives with institutional objectives.
- Serve as a liaison between the Science Department and other academic departments to promote interdisciplinary learning opportunities.
- Communicate effectively with parents, staff, and students to foster a positive learning environment.
Qualifications:
- Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Science or related field, Master’s degree preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience teaching Science, including AP Physics.
- Proven leadership experience, preferably in a school setting.
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Passion for STEM education and extracurricular programming.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience coordinating Science Fairs and Robotics teams.
- Familiarity with integrating technology into Science instruction.
- Demonstrated ability to inspire and lead a team of educators.
