Head Varsity Cross Country Coach
We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Head Varsity Cross Country Coach to lead and develop our cross-country program.
The ideal candidate holds a bachelor's or master's degree and has a minimum of three years of experience in both teaching and coaching. They should be able to contribute as an assistant coach in either the winter or spring athletic seasons.
Teaching Responsibilities:
- Develop engaging daily lesson plans that align with the curriculum and pedagogical ethos of Isidore Newman School.
- Foster a growth mindset among students.
- Communicate with parents, advisors, class deans, and administrators to support student learning.
- Write clear report card comments that help parents understand student progress.
- Serve as an advisor to a small group of students.
- Implement classroom practices that foster ethical behavior, social skills, and excellent work habits.
- Participate as a positive team member who supports the mission and culture of the school.
- Model professional standards and ensure students adhere to behavioral expectations.
Coaching Responsibilities:
- Demonstrate strong acumen for coaching cross country grades 6-12.
- Plan and execute practice and meet plans that meet the differentiated needs of student athletes.
- Work closely with the Director of High Performance to ensure student athletes are physically fit and conditioned for cross country.
- Collaborate positively with colleagues within the entire cross-country staff and athletic department.
- Serve as an assistant varsity coach for a winter or spring sport.
- Facilitate educational, athletic, and social development of student athletes.
- Assess student athletes in various ways and use these assessments to guide instruction for growth and development.
- Create a safe and conducive environment for learning.
- Use instructional time effectively.
