What are the responsibilities and job description for the Orthodontic/Pedatric Dental Assistant position at Island Childrens Dentistry and Orthodontics?
At Island Children's Dentistry we are more than just a team, we are a family! We are seeking a hardworking, positive, and dependable orthodontic assistant to join our fast-paced pediatric and orthodontic office. The position is part time (about 20 hours per week). We are a Pediatric Dental office so there are times where our ortho assistants might need to work with our general pediatric patients so flexibility is a must !
- **Duties**
- Assist the orthodontist in providing high-quality orthodontic care to patients
- Prepare treatment rooms and equipment for patient procedures
- Take and record patients' medical history and vital signs
- Assist with medical documentation and maintaining patient records
- Provide chairside assistance during orthodontic procedures
- Educate patients on proper oral hygiene techniques and post-treatment care
- Take dental impressions and perform dental imaging as directed by the orthodontist
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations and maintain patient confidentiality
- Maintain a clean and sterile environment in the treatment area using aseptic techniques
- Assist with scheduling appointments and managing patient flow
- **Qualifications**
- - Proficiency in using Dentrix is REQUIRED (1 year minimum)
- High school diploma or equivalent required; completion of an accredited dental assisting program preferred
- X-ray certification and CPR certification required
- Strong knowledge of dental anatomy, oral health, and orthodontic procedures
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to effectively interact with patients of all ages
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills to manage patient records and maintain a clean work environment
- Ability to work well in a team environment, collaborating with orthodontists, other dental assistants, and administrative staff

Pay: $22.00 - $29.00 per hour
