What are the responsibilities and job description for the Direct Care Attendant and ADL Assistant position at Island Commons?
Island Commons, a fast-paced 7-bed residential care facility & in-home care provider, is currently hiring for a Part-Time or Full-Time Direct Care Attendant (DCA) & in-home caregiver position, with options for 24 or 36 hours per week. The starting pay is between $23 and $25 per hour, depending on experience. This is a flexible position ideal for a self-starter, as it requires the ability to accommodate changing schedules and the varying needs of our clients. A PSS certification (Personal Support Specialist) is required.
For the right candidate, there is an opportunity for growth within our company. After a successful 90-day trial period, we will pay for a 40-hour CRMA certification class, providing additional professional certification and hours as a CRMA. In-home care will be required two weekdays per week, and the Direct Care Attendant duties will be 1 to 2 days per week with a rotating weekend schedule. Responsibilities include direct care, cooking, housekeeping, and assisting CRMA’s with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs).
Candidates must be able to lift 40 lbs. Island Commons pays for your ferry fare, parking, and a $15 per shift travel reimbursement stipend. A car is provided for your transportation from the ferry terminal to our facility, and for traveling to serve our in-home care clients.
Summary
As a Direct Care Worker/Caregiver, you will be essential in providing compassionate support and assistance to individuals in need of care. Reporting to the care team supervisor, your core responsibility will involve caregiving, including assisting with activities of daily living (ADLs), client observation, and ensuring a safe and clean environment. Your premium skills in first aid, home and community care, and experience in group homes or nursing facilities will enhance the quality of care provided.
