What are the responsibilities and job description for the Fuel Delivery Truck Driver position at ISLAND ENERGY SERVICES, LLC?
IES’s goal is to operate a fleet and deliver products to our customers in an incident and injury free manner. The Fuel Delivery Truck Driver (FDTD) plays a vital role in our success and has the responsibility to work safely and prevent incidents by operating the commercial vehicles in a safe professional manner. It is a general understanding that operating a commercial motor vehicle on the public roadway is always a privilege and acting in a professional manner as a representative of IES Downstream is required.
Under the general supervision of the Fuel Delivery Truck Supervisor (FDTS) the Fuel Delivery Truck Driver (FDTD) is responsible for safe and reliable fuel truck loading, driving, and on-time delivery of product to our customers. The ideal candidate takes great pride in maintaining an excellent driving record, has a commercial Class A Drivers License, at least 12 months commercial driving experience and is very detailed oriented. The individual is self-disciplined and has the value of Kīnāʻole which is to do the right thing, in the right way, at the right time, in the right place, for the right reason, with the right intention...always. We are looking for someone who is a reliable self-starter.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
Daily Responsibilities include:
Being prepared for work, well rested, clean and neat appearance, and showing up to work on time
Reviews dispatch, retain and runout windows, checks Journey Plans for routes, hazards and special notes
Conducts a Pre-Trip Inspection, documents inspection, reporting all conditions of the vehicle that requiring attention for safe operation
Following safe loading procedures, correctly loads the tanker truck and trailer for customers
Operates vehicle on public roadways using defensive driving techniques, and in a professional manner he/she safely maneuvers the commercial truck to delivery location
Following safe unloading procedures, correctly delivers on-spec product to customer tanks and documents all required tank inventory readings
Completes a Post-Trip Inspection, documents inspection, reporting all conditions of the vehicle that requires attention, notifies FDTS or mechanic of deficiencies found
Maintains DOT compliance and drivers logs
Reviews the Bill of Lading (BOL) for accuracy and ensure it matches the product, gallons loaded and delivery address. Prior to delivery, FDTD is responsible for performing mathematical calculations to ensure the quantity brought will safely fit into storage tank. Initiates communications with Dispatcher and/or Supervisor for discrepancies requiring correction. Documents tank number, product, opening/closing inches and gallons, and water levels on the Bill of Lading.
Responsible for learning and following the Driver Loading and Unloading Procedures. Safely delivering petroleum products to customer’s above ground and below ground storage tanks, and successfully complete the certification process to load tanker trucks at third-party facilities.
Communicates and confirms on a regular basis with dispatch to ensure that the correct product is delivered on time to customers and in the correct storage tank.
Customer Service – Interact with customers in a professional manner and reports questions and/or concerns to Dispatcher and/or Supervisor expeditiously.
Other position duties may include attending safety meetings and driver re-certification training as required. Complete all other IES training on time as directed.

FDTD incumbent is accountable for actions and behavior in compliance with IES policies and procedures. Report actual and potential safety violations to appropriate supervisor or management personnel in a timely manner.
OTHER DUTIES
Operating pump truck, delivering to above ground storage tanks, customers or any other new business customers,
Switching trailers and hauling Jet A, transmix and other fuels,
Maintain terminal grounds, load rack, warehouse, clean and wash the pump truck, tractor and trailer,
Light Maintenance that may include changing lights, wipers, tires, adding oil, coolants, fluids, and air.
Be ready to answer a call from dispatcher, even on days off.
Other duties as assigned by the Supervisor.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS
One year of experience as a delivery driver with a valid Class A CDL and clean driving record.
Experience as a petroleum or fuel delivery truck driver, desired.
Hazmat and Tanker Endorsement required by hire date.
High School Diploma or GED.
Commercial Driver’s License, must not have Automatic Restrictions on it.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS
Willingness to commit to IES core values: Kīnā`ole, Aloha, Lōkahi and Ho’ohana.
Work varied shifts; including nights, weekends and holidays as required. Assignment of shift is at the discretion of Management. Seniority may be used to determine shift assignment.
Must pass pre-employment medical, background check and drug test.
Must pass DOT Driver required physical as required (every two years).
Maintain all Hawaii DIP Classes, HAZWOPER, OSHA, DOT certifications as required (every three years).
Must be able to obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Card (TWIC) within sixty days of hire.
This is a safety sensitive position. Random drug testing is required. Post-accident, incident and injury events will require drug testing. post injury, incident and accident events.
Valid driver’s license with clean abstract. IES will require an annual DMV abstract, FDTD must submit to Supervisor.

Ability to sit for prolonged periods of time.

Position can be physically demanding; requires FDTD to climb ladders, gain access to the tops of tanker trucks (approximately 16 feet in height). FDTD must be able to bend frequently while performing all job functions such as truck inspections and delivery into underground storage tanks.
Ability to work unaccompanied at a steady work pace for extended shifts, as assigned.
PAY & BENEFITS:
This is a negotiated union position and is represented by the United Steel, Paper and Forestry, Rubber, Manufacturing, Energy, Allied Industrial and Service Workers International Union. Island Energy Services offers a competitive salary that is commensurate with qualifications and experience. The hiring minimum hourly pay for this position starts at $33.00/hr.
