About Us
Island Group Enterprises is a chemical manufacturing and processing company. We have a team of experts in Research and Development (R&D) who develop manufacturing processes for various specialty chemical products.
The Position
We are seeking an experienced Chemical Engineer to join our Special Synthesis team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the R&D stages of synthesizing new products, scaling up the process to pilot production, and then mass production.
Responsibilities
- Design and assemble reactors, heating units, piping, and other infrastructure needed for chemical reactions.
- Lead the design setup and procurement of synthesis equipment.
- Develop and implement pilot scale production processes.
- Conduct research on new products to be synthesized.
- Purchase precursors and raw materials for synthesis.
- Assist in laboratory testing of raw materials and finished products.
- Work with the R&D team to create Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and safety protocols.
Requirements
- At least 10 years of experience in Chemical Engineering required.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemical Engineering is required.
- Proficient in analytical chemistry techniques.
- Familiarity with processing equipment such as reactors, filtration units, hydrogenation units, distillation units, dryers, etc.
- Experience with modeling chemical reactions and thermal systems using computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulation tools such as COMSOL is preferred.
- Experience with computer-aided design (CAD) software such as Solidworks, Creo, CATIA, etc., is required.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
- Able to thrive in a detail-oriented environment.
- Strong interpersonal skills with ability to work effectively in a teamwork environment.
