Job Purpose:
The Housekeeping Supervisor is responsible for ensuring the operation of the Housekeeping Department operates in an efficient manner providing all guests with quality service and a clean and safe environment throughout their stay, while effectively leading department staff, and maximizing service levels.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Must, always, be attentive, friendly, helpful and courteous to all guests, managers, and other team members.

Regular attendance is required in compliance with Island House standards, as required by scheduling, which will vary according to the needs of the hotel.

Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming, which include a clean, pressed uniform and correct nametag when working.

Always comply with Island House standards and regulations to encourage safe and efficient hotel operations, leading by example.

Will inspect the work and performance of other room attendants & housepersons. Will provide overall guidance and feedback to ensure work activities are properly completed and will communicate to management any additional concerns that need to be addressed.

As needed, input work orders into Alice to assist with the overall upkeep of the building and furniture.

Respond to requests from guests, supervisors or management in a timely and efficient manner.

Responsible for cleaning rooms and performing the job of a room attendant or houseperson, as needed.

Assist management with reviews, training, and development of staff to achieve hotel service quality standards.

Assist management with the overall team culture & motivation of the department.

Assist with holding the team accountable for the overall organization & cleanliness of the hotel, including storage & non-guest-facing spaces.

Assist with enforcing & holding the team accountable for hotel standards, rules & policies.

Will provide direction, instructions and will make decisions to ensure a smooth operation of department functions.

Must be able to convey information and ideas clearly, both oral and written.

Must have the ability to lead, provide direction and guidance to staff, other department peers and or as needed to provide information about department performance, needs, etc.

Must be able to effectively address concerns with department staff, including anticipating, preventing, identifying and solving problems as necessary.

Must be able to prioritize departmental functions and assign work to department staff to meet due dates and deadlines.

Must be able to collaborate with other department leaders to ultimately achieve one common goal.

Must be able to multi-task and plan work for the day, week and month for self and others.

Ability to lead, train, and supervise the work of department staff, assist with scheduling, employee guidance and direction. Will ensure staff is properly trained and aware of hotel standards.

Will ensure housekeeping staff is educated and follows proper safety & cleaning standards.

Will support other operational needs to ensure adequate supplies and materials are in stock and the department is operating according to budget.

Conduct monthly linen inventory.

Attend mandatory safety and other training meetings as required.

Conduct and participate in quality and safety committee meetings.

Responsible for the safety of the department and the building.

Perform all other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS:
Education & Experience:
-
High school diploma or equivalent experience in lieu of.
-
Minimum of 4 years’ experience in hotels and full understanding of housekeeping overall department functions.

Supervisory experience
-
Bilingual preferred
Physical Demands:

Flexible Schedule – ability to work long hours, weekends, holidays.

Ability to stand for long periods of time, often the entire shift.

Ability to move quickly about the property to the various departments.

Must work well in highly stressful situations to effectively lead and provide guidance to guests and employees.

Must be able to lift, bend, and carry up to 20 lbs.
Required Competencies:

Proficient in various computer systems to include Microsoft products, Outlook and other industry-related systems.
