POSITION: Furniture/Appliance Delivery Helper
DEPARTMENT: Maui Contract Services (MCS)
REPORTS TO: General Manager
FLSA: Non-Exempt (Union)
POSITION SUMMARY:
Responsible for the loading and delivery of customers’ purchases and for the safe transport of all items from loading dock to the customers’ home while providing excellent customer service.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Check manifest and mark merchandise for delivery to customers.
- Check merchandise for any damages and help driver load the truck according to manifest.
- Prepare merchandise for delivery and ensure necessary equipment is taken to protect merchandise and customer’s property.
- Assist driver with moving into place and the installation of purchased items as needed.
- Put haul away back in the truck after each delivery as applicable and set up for next delivery.
- Upon return to dock, place haul away into the container and clean out truck for trash.
- Perform other duties as directed by the crew leader and/or Division Supervisors.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
· Possess a High School Diploma or equivalent
Other Qualifications:
. Able to pass a drug test, criminal background checks and physical test
Experience/Skills/Knowledge:
· Have a valid Hawaii driver license.
· Be familiar with streets and geographical locations
· Be organized, detail-oriented, and able to multi-task
· Possess strong interpersonal skills in dealing with all levels of employees, and customers
o Ability to deal with frustrated customers to remedy concerns while providing excellent customer service
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience/Skills/Knowledge:
· 1 year of moving/freight/transportation background
MENTAL, PHYSICAL and COMMUNICATION REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be able to do tedious and detailed work daily.
- Required to complete multiple priorities with time-sensitive deadlines
- Work under minimal supervision and high-pressure environments
- Apply logic and reasoning to solve complex problems.
- Use sound judgment and discretion in performing work duties and working cooperatively with others
- Must be flexible and able to adapt to change.
- Requires excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Requires long periods of being on the road.
- Able to lift and carry items 75 lbs. or more for 8 or more hours a day for up to 6 consecutive days.
- Requires constant lifting of 75 lbs. or more from a height of up to 60 inches from floor.
- Requires carrying 75 lbs. or more for a distance of 50 feet.
- Requires ascending and descending stairs with 75 lbs. or more for 3 or more consecutive minutes.
- Able to push and pull 75 lbs. or more for 25 feet.
- Understand and follow Company’s safety program.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Primarily outdoors, with constant time on the road, loading and unloading customers’ goods.
NORMAL WORK HOURS:
- May require working overtime, on weekends and holidays per direction of Supervisors.
GUIDELINES:
- Follows and adheres to all internal policies and procedures, House and Safety Rules, and any employee guidelines if applicable.
- Execute goals and direction provided by Division Supervisors.
