Job Summary
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated assistant teacher to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in early childhood education and a genuine love for working with young children. This role involves creating a nurturing and stimulating environment that promotes the social, emotional, and cognitive development of children. The assistant teacher will work closely with children, parents, and staff to ensure a safe and engaging learning atmosphere.
Responsibilities
- Foster a positive learning environment by encouraging exploration, creativity, and social interaction among children.
- Provide individualized attention to children, including those with special needs or disabilities, ensuring their unique requirements are met.
- Maintain classroom management by establishing rules and routines that promote respect and cooperation among students.
- Supervise children during activities to ensure their safety and well-being at all times.
- Collaborate with other staff members to create a cohesive educational experience for all children in the daycare.
- Participate in ongoing professional development opportunities to enhance teaching skills and knowledge in early childhood education.
- assist in clean up of classroom/restrooms/kitchen.
Experience
- Previous experience working in a childcare/ daycare settings or with young children is required.
- Strong classroom management skills to maintain an orderly learning environment while promoting positive behavior among students.
- A degree or certification in Early Childhood Education or a related field is preferred.
Minimum requirements
- must hold a GED/ High school diploma
- must be able to pass a background check through DCYF,
- must be bilingual
- must be CPR/First aid certified
- must have a food handlers card
- Be at least 18 years old
- Ability to pass a Washington Criminal Background check.
- Complete STARS application and background check process through the MERIT system after beginning employment
- Complete required STARS child care basics training proficiently and on time
- Ability to work with diverse populations with an outgoing, friendly, equitable and welcoming manner.
- Ability to give and receive information effectively, orally and in writing.
- Commitment to increasing cultural competency.
- Ability to project a positive and professional image
- Ability to perform duties and follow policies and procedures.
- Ability to bend, stand, sit on the floor, and run around with the children
- Ability to do light to heavy lifting and have good physical health and endurance
- Ability to use a computer and software appropriate for job requirements.

Pay: $18.00 - $22.50 per hour
