What are the responsibilities and job description for the Admissions Assistant position at Island School?
Under the direction of the Director of Admissions and Financial Aid, the Admissions Assistant works in the front office, setting a positive tone, greeting visitors and members of the Island School ‘ohana, providing services as requested and appropriate, including directing individuals to school officials who have responsibility for addressing needs they express; facilitating admissions and application inquiries; organizing tours of campus; administering student assessments; answering and managing phone calls; creating and managing digital records, databases, and files related to admission processes; participating in admission events outside of regular school day hours as needed during admission season. This role is exempt, full-time, and can begin as early as April 30, 2025. Compensation based on years of experience and credentials: $50,000-55,000.
Island School is a WASC/HAIS accredited PK-12 independent day school with a total enrollment of just under 500 students. The school has been serving the Kauaʻi community for 48 years and is located in Puhi, mauka side of the Kauaʻi Community College campus.
The successful candidate should have the ability to communicate effectively with colleagues, be detail oriented, and a desire to be part of an independent school community. Candidates should have a strong work ethic, adaptability, can take initiative on projects, a generous spirit, desire to work together with a team, and confident working with others.
Minimum Qualifications include:
- Experience working with people, greeting and receiving people in a hospitable manner
- Experience working in an office environment, managing multiple projects at once
- Ability to calmly address situations with a wide-range of constituents
- Ability to communicate effectively with colleagues and students via email, phone, and in person
- Experience in a private school, admissions-driven program and/or 3 years of relevant work experience preferred
- Bachelor's degree preferred
- References from a previous employer(s) certifying reliability and satisfactory performance
