What are the responsibilities and job description for the Facilities Coordinator position at Island School?
Island School seeks a Facilities Coordinator with a commitment to coordinating and participating in the care for our 38.4 acre campus and multiple administrative and classroom buildings that comprise our educational environment. The facilities coordinator will organize and participate in the daily care of both campus buildings and grounds, assign tasks to facilities team members, ensure tasks are completed effectively and to expected professional standards, and report to the Director of Campus Operations to meet daily and special-event needs for the school. This is an exempt, full-time role. Compensation based on years of experience and credentials: $54,000-$60,000.
Island School is a WASC/HAIS accredited PK-12 independent day school with a total enrollment of just over 500 students. The school is located on the rural island of Kaua`i, the northwestern most inhabited island in the Hawaiian archipelago, which, due to its stunning natural beauty, is known as the "Garden Island." The successful candidate should have the ability to communicate effectively with colleagues, be detail oriented, and a desire to be part of an independent school community. Candidates should have a Strong work ethic, adaptability, generous spirit, desire to work together with a team, and have confidence in working with others. 5 years of relevant work experience preferred.
Minimum Qualifications include:
- Experience in facilities / maintenance field, including repairs, painting, and regular and special cleaning as needed
- Experience working with contractors for construction and/or landscaping
- Ability to organize and motivate a team on facilities / maintenance work
- Ability to communicate with colleagues via email, phone, and in person
- Contractor’s license preferred
- References from a previous employer(s) certifying reliability and satisfactory performance
- Strong work ethic, adaptability, generous spirit, and confidence working with other adults
