A&P Lead Mechanic with IA
Islander Aviation is seeking an experienced Lead A&P Mechanic to oversee our maintenance team and ensure the highest standards of aircraft safety and reliability. The ideal candidate will combine technical expertise with leadership skills to manage maintenance operations effectively.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and supervise a team of A&P mechanics, providing technical guidance and mentorship
- Plan, schedule, and coordinate aircraft maintenance activities according to FAA regulations
- Perform complex inspections, troubleshooting, and repairs on various aircraft systems
- Ensure compliance with all FAA regulations, company policies, and safety procedures
- Review and approve maintenance documentation and logbook entries
- Manage parts inventory and coordinate with vendors for timely procurement
- Train team members on new procedures, equipment, and technologies
- Collaborate with pilots and operations staff to minimize aircraft downtime
- Implement continuous improvement initiatives for maintenance processes
Requirements:
- FAA Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) license with Inspection Authorization (IA) required
- Minimum 5 years of experience as an A&P mechanic, with at least 3 years in a leadership role
- Strong knowledge of FAA regulations and maintenance procedures
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities
- Strong leadership and communication skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities
- Experience with maintenance tracking software
