What are the responsibilities and job description for the Custodial Worker - part-time on-call position at Isle of Wight County?
Isle of Wight County is recruiting for part-time on-call Custodial Workers who will fill in as a substitute Custodial Worker as needed to perform cleaning duties related to the operation of assigned County Buildings.• Cleans restrooms;
• Replenishes restrooms;
• Empties trash;
• Empties recycle bins;
• Cleans desks where applicable;
• Cleans tables in conference room;
• Vacuums offices and common areas;
• Cleans interior glass;
• Cleans drinking fountains;
• Dusts partitions, cabinets and vents;
• Mops floors;
• Cleans elevators/shines stainless;
• Operates chemical dispensing units;
• Properly measures chemicals that are not provided in dispenser form;
• Understands how to read MSDS sheets;
• Properly label chemicals;
• Wears proper PPE when working with chemicals;
• Observes all approved safety and health policies and procedures pertaining to his/her work activities and perform all work tasks in a safe and healthy manner in accordance with County policy.
Physical Demands:
The work is medium work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force. Requires the use of fingers, balancing, climbing, crawling, crouching, grasping, hearing, kneeling, lifting, mental acuity, pushing, pulling, reaching, repetitive motion, speaking, standing, stooping, talking, visual acuity, and walking.
Requires a High School Diploma/ GED and some general custodial/cleaning experience.The positions are part-time, on-call, as needed to fill in as a substitute Custodial Worker, generally working Monday - Friday from 5pm - 9pm. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis as there are multiple positions to be filled.
Please Note: All County employees may be required to report to serve our customers during emergency conditions. While some will perform their regular duties, others may be assigned to report at a different time and location and to perform different duties from their regular jobs. Employees will either be deemed essential personnel and provide services that must continue regardless of or pursuant to a state of emergency or will be deemed nonessential personnel that will be required to report to work in an emergency if they receive an assignment to shelter duty or other duty.
